"How
to Write a REAL Book and Get it Published...
AND Make Money"
Imagine being a
published author. In today's society, authors earn
respect. People place a higher value on books than on
tapes, recordings, and seminars. A published book
gives you more credibility than anything else. The
title of Author, the first part of "authority,"
propels you to expert status.
First, decide
why you want to write a book. Writing a
book takes more work than you might first think. Sure,
it's easy to whip out articles and put them together
into an ebook. You get these every day. (Family Trust
Publishing even gives ebooks away free for bonus
promotions.) These books prove invaluable for building
Internet marketing lists.
On the other hand,
you might want to write a book for print for a
different reason.
8 Reasons to
Write a Book

Your Story Perhaps you want

write and publish a book
helps you determine the type of book you need.
Non-fiction books help you become an expert.
The Truth about
How to Write a Book
Did you know,
most people only read the first 18 pages of a book?
No one likes to read a poorly written book, no matter
how good the information or story. You must learn
proper grammar and how to write in a strong voice.
In today's busy
world, readers like concise information. Avoid long
non-fiction books by breaking your information into
topics and write a series. A fiction book must move
forward and keep the reader on the edge of their
seats.
The Truth about
Publishing Books
Just because you
wrote a book does not mean that you will sell your
book. Even if you do manage to get a major publisher,
understand that publishers rarely promote their
authors or books.
Because it's so
difficult for beginning authors to find a publisher,
many authors self-publish. Some of these authors pay a
publishing company for help. Authors end up with
thousands of books unsold in storage. Also, these
authors pay a lot for each book copy. Some authors
have to pay so much, they only make a few pennies or
even lose money selling their books at Amazon or
Barnes and Noble online!
Amazon charges a
commission of 55% to sell your book. For this reason,
take care that you get a fair amount from your
publisher. If you pay a publisher to print your book
and then have to buy each book, you may not make
anything selling on Amazon. For instance, some
"publishers" charge a set up fee of $3,000 to produce
your book and then sell it to you at a wholesale price
of 50% off retail. That means you pay $3,000 and 5% of
sales price to sell your book on Amazon! Of course,
many of these publishers distribute directly to Amazon
for you and have a royalty program to pay you some
time down the road.
Even worse, many
authors sign away their rights to these publishing
companies and can't print their books with another
company.
Know that you don't
have to pay too much for your book or sign away your
rights.

Publishing does not collect publishing fees from
authors.

The Truth about
Making Money Publishing Books
Many authors make
more money selling ebooks from their websites than
they do selling print books. What's amazing, Internet
shoppers love instant gratification and will gladly
pay full price or MORE for an ebook. Ebooks cost you
nothing to create except time.

The REAL way
authors make money is not by selling books. Best
sellers do make money, but speaking engagements,
teleseminars, coaching, and seminars make many authors
wealthy. Think of your book as the stepping stone to
launch YOU as the EXPERT in your field.
Let's take a look
at how to make more money with Sell Your
Home for Top Dollar--FAST. Jeanette presents real
estate investing seminars and speaks to groups like
the Las Vegas Investing Club with over 100 members.
She gets paid for the seminars and sells her books in
bundles in the back of the room. With eight real estate
books (and two more in production), you can see that
Jeanette makes more money from speaking than selling
just one book.
Many authors charge
for mentoring or coaching and make even more money.
You need to decide what you enjoy doing and make a
plan to promote yourself, not just your book.
